Title:

Missing BlockSID pop up message when deploying SecureDoc and TPM disabled

Topic:

Missing BlockSID pop up message when deploying SecureDoc (PBLU preboot version, Hardware encryption, with BlockSID enabled in BIOS and TPM disabled in BIOS)

Background

With the Block SID enabled in BIOS settings, when a SecureDoc client deploying a package with PBLU and HWE (Use hardware encryption if available is enabled)
Expected Result: The ballon message “A BlockSID disable request was sent to the BIOS. During reboot, if the prompt appears then accept/confirm that Block SID will be disabled." Should be displayed.

Actual Result: Pop message is missing.

Environment (OS/hardware/software):

SES Server v9.1.100.235
All Windows Server OS
All Devices
PBLU
SED drive with Use hardware encryption if available is enabled and BlockSID enabled in BIOS

Workaround:

This issue happens when TPM2.0 is DISABLED in Bios on the client device.

TPM must enabled for SecureDoc to show the notification message for ‘disable BlockSID when installing SD on system’ with a Self-Encrypting Drive.

To resolve, Enable TPM.
