How to change the ADSYNC Service Update frequency from its 60 minute default?
The following change will permit the ADSync service cycle time so that it can check the Active Directory for changes after any number of minutes. The default is every 60 minutes..
Scenarios / Use Cases:
Use Case 1:
When testing/proving PreBoot Networking in a demo, for example, you may wish to ensure ADSync checks the AD more frequently so that newly-added users can access a test machine within a matter of (say) 1 minute, in which case the Administrator may wish to change this setting to every 1 minute.
Use Case 2:
In a very large Active Directory, it may be desirable to change the ADSync frequency cycle to synchronize less frequently by increasing the number of minutes defined.
NOTE: There is no GUI available to permit altering this setting - it must be changed by directly altering text in a configuration file.
Resolution:
The file to change is located in the Program Files\WinMagic\SDDB-NT\SDConnex directory.
The configuation file to change is:
WinMagic.SecureDoc.ADSync.Service.exe.config
Open this file with a basic text editor, such as Notepad.
Search for the <appsettings> section.
Change the value beside: "defaultADSynchSchedule" value to be the desired number of minutes, e.g. "1" (the default is normally 60 minutes)
Save and close the file.
Restart the ADSync service.
