1085-Error 9118-Cannot encrypt hard drive

Symptom

The error 9118 appears when a hard drive is being encrypted (the encryption fails).

Cause

This is usually due to the way the hard drive is set up.

Check to see if Windows has setup the hard drive as Dynamic.
SecureDoc does not support Dynamic disks.

 Resolution

 Log into Computer Management, then Disk Management, and confirm the hard drive is not set up as a Dynamic disk.

If it is, you will have to set it as a Basic disk.
