Why am I getting error 9705 when starting a conversion process?
Problem Scenario/Symptom:
When starting a conversion process (encryption or decryption), the message: "9705 Recovery files exist on computer" appears on a device running SecureDoc versions up to V6.3. (Note: there are other instructions for later versions of SecureDoc - be certain to follow the instructions appropriate to your version of SecureDoc).
Probable Cause:
Important recovery files for an encryption or decryption process already exist on the computer.
SecureDoc will not allow a new conversion process to take place until these files are dealt with (either by the completion of the conversion process or the removal of the files). These files are very important in the event a conversion process is interrupted.
Product version affected:
The error has been seen when running Securedoc 6.3 or older versions
Environment:
All Devices
Windows based OS
Proposed Resolution:
Note: Please DO NOT perform the procedure below if the disk is in the middle of conversion (partially encrypted).
Check to ensure the conversion process wasn't interrupted.
If this is not the case, then rename the following files: securdoc.ph1 securdoc.ph2 (located in the UserData folder under SecureDoc-NT) for example to securdoc.ph1.old and securoc.ph2.old.
Please not that this process no longer works starting in SecureDoc version 6.4, please contact support for the new process.
Steps to Follow:
Step 1. Open the Command Prompt with elevated rights. (i.e. Go to START > Type 'cmd.exe' > Right click on cmd.exe > Select "Run as Administrator" > press Enter)
Step 2. Enter the command "fltmc" and press 'Enter'
Step 3. Enter "fltmc unload pinfile" and press 'Enter'
Step 4. Go to (C:\Program Files\WinMagic\SecureDoc-NT\UserData)
Step 5. Rename SecurDoc.PH1 and SecurDoc.PH2 hidden files
Step 6. Reboot the Computer
When the files have been renamed, start the conversion process again.
