Legacy

• The Dell Legacy BIOS could not update the Timing Counter for which the SD Pre-boot requires to function.
• As a result, SD PBL will hang.

Please contact WinMagic Support for the upgrade link of SES 7.1SR2a HF1 and instructions.

This is indeed an issue with Dell changing how their Legacy BIOS code worked.  The solution to resolve this issue was a collaborated effort with DELL.

SD-16861

UEFI

• Affects only devices with OPAL SED drives.
• When Pre-Boot is installed, SD writes the relative boot paths of the SecureDoc boot code to UEFI.  These boot paths are somehow modified, thus preventing the device from knowing where to boot SD PreBoot. This causes the device to display “No bootable device”.
• Given that these are SED drives and when boot paths are not found, DELL UEFI issues a TPer Reset command to the disk causing it to lock up.

• Resolved in 7.1 SR2a HF2

The following devices are reported to be affected due to above listed issues though this may not be a complete list and there could be more Dell devices affected.
