Content:

Symptom:
This article addresses a known incompatibility with SecureDoc and the Validity finger print sensor.  With such devices, if configured to use Fingerprint protection, at the point following encryption that SecureDoc prompts the user to convert his/her key file to be fingerprint-protected, SecureDoc will be unable to complete that conversion due to this incompatibility.

Cause:
The Validity fingerprint sensor is not supported by SecureDoc

Product version affected:
All SD versions

Environment (OS/hardware/software):
Windows OS
HP EliteBook 8770w
Validity finger print sensor

Resolution:
- Do not use the Validity fingerprint reader as a method of authentication with SecureDoc - this means do not define that devices that contain Affinity fingerprint sensors should have finger-print-protected key files, as described in the next sentence.
- Ensure that the SecureDoc configuration or Profile (for SES-managed users) does not specify Fingerprint as the token type when deploying that profile or configuration to a Validity fingerprint sensor-equipped device.
