1348 How to read an exFAT formatted RMCE drive on a Windows XP machine

By default, there is no support for ExFAT on WinXP

To gain support for ExFAT, please install Microsoft KB955704.

This KB can be found in the MS site here:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955704

Once installed, Windows XP becomes capable of reading drives formatted in ExFAT and the RMCE container/files should beaccessiblenow.

To check if KB955704 is installed, please follow the steps below:

 

 

1.In the Windows Start menu you select "Run" and enter the command "CMD".

 

 

2.In the DOS command window that opens you enter the command below:

 

 

wmic qfe list full /format:htable >C:\Temp\hotfixes.htm

 

 

3.Go to the path specified (here C:\Temp) and find the file Hotfixes.htm. This file contains a list of all the Microsoft Windows patches installed on the PC.

 

 

4.Please confirm if KB955704 is installed (use Search command). If it’s not, please install the KB.
