Mac shows "keys" icon briefly, doesn’t boot, grey screen appears - no operating system

To get past this issue, you must un-install the problematic SecureDoc version and re-install the correct version using the instructions shown here:

1. Press Enter and Hold the Alt key.
2. Choose the boot install CD (Installation DVD).
3. Open terminal.
4. Touch /Volumes/<actual_volume_name>/System/Library/Extensions < -- you might need to use the 'mount' command to see the names of your disk drives.
5. Execute the following command in terminal : shutdown –r now
To figure out <actual_volume_name>:
Type mount and look for volume name likely for disk0s2.
6. After executing the above, you will be able to log-in to your computer successfully.
7. Un-install the current version of the software by running the un-install application.
8. Download the most current version (you may need to contact the Support or PSE group to get the most recent build) and install that.
