Product Notification: Upgrading to Mac OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion)

Overview

In the coming weeks Apple will release an update to Mac OS X. These updates - Mac OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion) - could cause potential disruption to your device if you try to run SecureDoc or if you install SecureDoc, regardless of the version, on a device running either of these updates.

Until SecureDoc 5.3 SR4 is released, existing users should NOT upgrade to either version of OS X and should not install SecureDoc on either version.

Potential Issue

In evaluating and testing Mac OS X 10.7.5 and 10.8, it was discovered that recent updates to the OS may cause instability with SecureDoc installed or installed after this update is applied.

Solution

Mac OS X 10.7.5

WinMagic strongly advises that customers do not install SecureDoc on devices running OS X 10.7.5 or upgrade to OS X 10.7.5.
Specifically,

- if SecureDoc is installed on a Mac client, DO NOT upgrade that client to Mac OS X 10.7.5;
DO NOT install SecureDoc on a Mac client running Mac OS X 10.7.5.

Mac OS X 10.8

SecureDoc does not support Mac OS X 10.8 at this time. This is a new version to the operating system and WinMagic strongly advises that customers do not install SecureDoc on devices running OS X 10.8 or upgrade to OS X 10.8:
Specifically,

- if SecureDoc is installed on a Mac client, DO NOT upgrade that client to Mac OS X 10.8;
DO NOT install SecureDoc on a Mac client running Mac OS X 10.8.

WinMagic will be releasing SecureDoc 5.3 SR4 in late August 2012, which will offer full compatibility for both versions of Mac OS X.
