System crashes after logging into boot logon on Dell Latitude laptops
System crash after boot logon on Dell Latitude Exx00 series laptops.
Cause This is caused by the SD card reader and its driver. These models have a plastic spacer that protects the card reader. The spring-loaded action of the card reader along with the plastic spacer causes the system to wrongly detect the fake card, changing the query status in the driver. With SecureDoc installed, after authenticating to boot logon, this causes the system to crash.
This problem is with the SD card reader driver.
Resolution The fix is to remove the plastic spacer from the system. To remove the plastic spacer, press the space in to eject it. When you remove your finger, In SecureDoc versions 5.3 SR4 and later the SecureDoc driver has been updated to better handle the false query status of the SD card reader. |
