This How-To article provides instructions on how to verify FIPS status on RHEL and Ubuntu Linux systems
RHEL 8 and 7:
$: cat /proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled
Results 0/1 (0 is disabled, 1 is enabled)

$: sysctl crypto.fips_enabled
Results: 0/1 (0 is disabled, 1 is enabled)

RHEL 8+ only:
$: fips-mode-setup --check

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS: (List of Ubuntu versions that support FIPS: https://ubuntu.com/security/fips)
$: sudo ua status

$: cat /proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled

Additional information:
SecureDoc v9.0 SR1 encryption will not work on RHEL and Ubuntu systems with FIPS enabled.
SecureDoc v9.0 SR2 has fixed this issue (SD-38249).
On Ubuntu systems, the machine needs to have a Ubuntu pro subscription attached to it.
