Issue:

HP EliteBook 840 G3 is encrypted with 7.1sr2 or 7.1sr4 and generates Black Screen blinking cursor after passing our preboot

Product version affected:

7.1sr2 ,HF1,HF2,HF3 and 7.1sr4

Environment (OS/hardware/software):

Legacy BIOS
Bios - N75 Ver 1.09 07/05/2016
Preboot Linux (PBL,Version 5 preboot)

Work Around:

Currently we have isolated the issue to be caused by Video Memory size setting in BIOS.
If Video Memory size is turned down from 256 or 512 MB to 128 the issue does not occur.
This setting has no impact on monitors below 21inch size .




Pending investigation with HP BIOS and Linux Kernel we use.
