Error 0x00000001: HP Elitebook 8770w, V5.3SR4 & Purple Smart Card (London Metropolitan Police - ONLY)
Scenario:
Equipment: HP Elitebook 8770w running 5.3 SR4 with Purple Smart Card (London Metropolitan Police - ONLY)
A customer upgraded to SES 5.3 SR4 and encountered issues with the built-in card reader on HP Elitebook 8770w. Under the V5 Boot Logon with the Profile set to use the built-in Smart Card reader for authenticaiton, the customer reported that the boot logon screen would appear to be blank, apart from graphics at the top and bottom of the screen, and in the middle would be an "Error: 0x00000001" Using the V4 boot loader, the customer was able to authenticate using User ID and Password, but not the card reader, so token logon was not possible.
Troubleshooting:
To trouble-shoot this, the customer was asked to provide: - Pre-boot logs - attached support.tar.gz - System Information - attached hp8770w.rar - For this device, the reader info from devmgmt.msc is USB\VID_058F&PID_9540\6&33C616BE&0&8 Resolution: Install SD Client V6.1 on the hp 8770w device. Under the V5 Boot Loader, the user will be able to logon with the Purple Smart card successfully. Custom Fields Error message or code: 0x00000001
