Encryption runs, then fails with "Error number: c0000185 Please contact Technical Support"

Encryption runs up to a point, then stops and fails with message "Error number: c0000185 Please contact Technical Support".

This appears in a very small pop-up panel and offers the user only an OK button to close/continue.

NOTE: There might be a problem in our code in versions V5.2SR2 through V5.2SR4, as this problem seems to be occurring with a frequency that is of concern. Work is underway as of Nov 18, 2011 to ensure that we can find and fix this issue if possible in V5.3 when it goes live.

From Philip in Support:

Microsoft published a KB article on their site that indicates this may be related to hard disk errors. See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884070

To correct this (if indeed caused by a disk having problems):

If you have a third-party tool such as SPINRITE, please use this first to analyze the disk for bad sectors.

If the disk proves to be OK, Support will need to get the logs from the machine to investigate further.
