Issue:
Client may be looking to encrypt virtualized Windows 2008 R2 server on their Xen Server platform but after authenticating at pre boot V5, “Disk read error” appears.
The PBA V5 could not enable or find the virtual NIC so PBConnex doesn’t work. The virtual server is encrypted and is visible in SES console.
Product Version Affected:
SD version 6.5 using V4 and V5
Environment:
Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2 servers (64 bits)
Client using version 5.x of Citrix Xen center i.e. 5.6 SP2
Troubleshooting:
1. Request for the msinfo32 of the server .
2. Obtain the F7 preboot log.
3. Obtain the screenshot and detailed information of the virtual NIC card from device manager i.e “Citrix PV Ethernet Adapter”
Suggestions:
These settings are not necessarily public consumption.
1. enabled Y mode = 30 and SUSAM in the profile. (more secure settings)
2. Y mode = 60 (less secure)
3. Upgrade the SES and devices to SD 7.1 - permanent fix
