Issue:
After installing SecureDoc, some users observed that the energy settings, specifically the action when closing the laptop, automatically revert to "Hibernate" mode. Users manually change the setting, but it resets to "Hibernate" the next day.
Cause:
This behavior is a deliberate setting of SecureDoc. In sleep mode, the encryption engine is not deactivated, which can lead to potential attack vectors on the device. In hibernate mode, the device's encryption engine is correctly deactivated.
Resolution:
Understand that SecureDoc intentionally sets the laptop to hibernate mode to ensure the encryption engine is deactivated and to prevent possible security vulnerabilities.
Note that switching from hibernate mode to sleep mode is not supported by SecureDoc, even through registry entries or similar methods.
If the device is shutting down completely instead of entering hibernate mode, verify the device model and operating system for compatibility issues. In this case, the affected device was a Dell Latitude 5430 running Windows 10.
