If, through some error or automation, a token-protected key file is provided to a user working with a device that has been configured with a SecureDoc Essentials device profile/license, WinMagic has provided for this possibility, and permits the user a brief "Grace period" during which he should arrange to get a Password-protected Key File.
Users of most devices could be presented with a warning message phrased like one of the following (if their device had been sent a Token-protected Key File):
You have been provided with a Token-Protected Key File to access this device.
This device is licensed for SecureDoc Essentials for Windows, which does not support
Token-based authentication. Although token-protection is not supported for
devices that are managed by this license type, users of this device will be
permitted a limited number of 'grace period' logins using User ID and Password.
Number of "grace period" logins left: 4
Users of UEFI Devices that use SecureDoc's native Pre-Boot for UEFI (AKA PBU devices) will see a very short message, due to constraints of the PBU environment:
"Warning: Token protection not supported. Remaining login attempts: 4"
Either of the above messages above means that:
a) The user may log in using his User ID and Password (up to the number of times indicated in the message)...
AND
b) The user must immediately contact the SES Administrator to request that a Password-protected Key File be transmitted to this device as soon as possible, before the maximum number of grace logins has been completely consumed.
