Using SecureDoc on Microsoft Windows 10 RS3 (Fall Creators update) edition
Microsoft will be releasing a new major update to Windows 10. This new version will be available as of Mid October, 2017. (Windows 10 RS3 ( Fall Creators update) edition – build 1709).
Will I be able to install SecureDoc on Windows 10 RS3 (Creators update) (build 1709)?
WinMagic will be releasing a new version of SecureDoc [v7.5 SR1] to fully support Windows 10 RS3 (Fall Creators update). The scheduled date for this release will be available by November 7 2017(Subject to change).
At this time, it is highly recommended to wait until SecureDoc 7.5 SR1 becomes available as current upgrades to Windows 10 RS3 (Fall Creators update) would introduce limitations within Password Synchronization mechanism.
If Clients are unable to wait until Version 7.5 Sr1 is released and are using SecureDoc 7.1sr6
1) Systems are running Windows 10 RS1\RS2
2) Following Registry needs to be changed Winlogon Automatic Restart Sign-On (ARSO)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "DisableAutomaticRestartSignOn"=dword:1
3) Proceed with upgrade to Windows 10 RS3 using ReflectDrivers (ReflectDrivers are not required with OPAL\Self Encrypted Drives) or Automatic Update
If no registry change was applied prior to Upgrading Windows 10 RS3
1) No registry change was applied
2) Upgrade to Windows 10 Rs3 was applied with ReflectDrivers (ReflectDrivers are not required with OPAL\Self Encrypted Drives) or Automatic update
3) Windows will load , however if client performs Password change then SecureDoc will be unable to capture the updated information
4) To correct the problem Registry entry has to be edited [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "DisableAutomaticRestartSignOn"=dword:1
5) System requires a reboot
6) Users can proceed with updating their password
If clients are running 7.1sr5 and systems have been upgraded to Windows 10 RS 3
1) 7.1sr5 does not have full support for Windows 10 RS2 or Windows 10 RS3 and would fall under similar limitations and issues. Please Reference this KB
2) Once changes to UEFI Boot Configuration are applied and Password Syncronisation dll is renamed system should be booting back up into Windows
3) Password Synchronization will not work with 7.1sr5 and will require upgrade to 7.5
4) After client is upgraded to 7.5 the Registry entry needs to be added to restore password syncronisation
5) It recommended to wait for 7.5sr1 release as it eliminates most of custom work
If clients can wait until 7.5 sr1 is released then following process can be followed
1) Upgrade existing clients to version 7.5 sr1 .
2) Proceed with Windows 10 RS3 upgrade via ReflectDrivers (ReflectDrivers are not required with OPAL\Self Encrypted Drives) or Automatic Windows upgrade
