Notice: Support for SecureDoc's legacy encryption engine on Apple Mac OS X devices will be deprecated as of  end of February, 2016.

WinMagic has for several years provided management support for Apple's native encryption under FileVault2, and continues to do so while continuing to support legacy devices that may have been encrypted using SecureDoc's own encryption product.  However, due to the anticipated small number of pre-OS X Mountain Lion devices that might still be in current use, WinMagic has decided to discontinue support for its own Mac encryption engine.

Customers using SecureDoc to manage FileVault 2 will continue to be supported actively, and are completely unaffected by this notification.

With the advent of Apple OS X Mavericks version, WinMagic was no longer able to implement its own encryption engine on Mac devices, but continued to support any legacy devices that had been encrypted using SecureDoc's own encryption.

Given the rapid uptake of Apple OS X Mavericks on recent-model Apple Mac equipment, WinMagic estimates that the impact of this deprecation will be small and manageable.  Most customers will be unlikely to have pre-Mavericks versions of OS X still in active use, as any such devices will likely be approximately 8 years of age or older.

Customers can anticipate that SES Version 7.1 will be the last version of SES under which SecureDoc for Legacy Mac will be supported.

Any remaining customers still using SecureDoc for Legacy Mac are encouraged to uninstall SecureDoc, upgrade to a version of Mac OS X that supports FileVault 2, and then reinstall SecureDoc to permit the device's drives to be re-encrypted using the FileVault 2 encryption engine.
