How to disable HPM on a given Lenovo Device
Article Summary The following article provides general instructions on how to disable HPM on a device.
Instructions Steps:
1. Right-click on the device in the SES Console 2. Select "Lenovo Hardware Password Manager | Deregister computer" from the pop-up menu that appears. 3. Check the "Lenovo Hardware Password Manager | Show HPM remote actions" option from the pop-up menu to see that this remote action has been acted upon at the client end. 4. You may also wish to check both the "Show Commands" and "View audit log" pop-up menu options for the device.
Once you have seen that the command has been applied, you can reboot the device and HPM should be disabled.
If, for whatever reason, the above do not work, it should be possible to "force-de-register" the device:
1. Using the client-side HPM app 2. Using Intranet Login with an admin user, or 3. Disable HPM in the BIOS after logging in with an admin account (might require manually entering hardware passwords)
If the customer is working closely with Lenovo, recomnmend also that they contact their Lenovo technical rep if none of the above solutions works. |
