Error: SDDB.exe fails to start - "Side-by-side Config incorrect"

Symptom

You see a message similar to this:

"C:\Program Files\WinMagic\SDDB-NT\SDDB.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail."

Cause

This message might appear if you have installed SES prior to installing SQL Server 2008.

Resolution

install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package.
