Title:
RDP with MagicEndpoint (No user action) or Enhanced RDP does not work with Microsoft Remote Desktop app and other apps

Topic:
Pre-conditions:

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop app (download from Microsoft store) is installed
  • Managed PC is enabled Enhanced RDP + No user action

Steps:

  1. On Managed PC -> RDP by Microsoft Remote Desktop app -> Unmanaged PC
  2. Observing

Expected result:

  • RDP with no user action successful (Enhanced RDP does NOT show)

Actual result:

  • RDP Authentication shows → Enter valid account → RDP to destination device → Enter account: email & password → Login to destination device successful.

Note: This issue does NOT occur with Native Windows RDP

Environment (OS/hardware/software):

  • SD 9.1 SR1 HF2
  • ME 1.4.102
  • ME App 1.180
  • Windows 10 & 11 22h2

Details / Workaround:
The simple RDP App from Microsoft just does not use any Credential Providers and is designed to stay simple. Thus, SecureDoc Credential Provider (SDCP) is not involved at all.

Summary of Supported RDP Use Cases:

RDP Client

RDP with ME-NUA (ME installed on source device)
