The KnownConfigs.xml file contains device make/model-specific settings that have been tested by WinMagic to improve the device installation process. Use of this file during installation will ensure that your Installation Packages will have WinMagic's approved settings for those device make/model combinations within the .xml file . This file will be updated on a regular basis by WinMagic, so customers are recommended to check for updates on a regular basis and download the most recent version of KnownConfigs.xml. This article covers how to update the KnownConfigs.xml file in your version of SES versions 7.5 onward
The KnownConfigs.xml file introduced in SES V7.5 contains device make/model-specific settings that have been tested by WinMagic to improve the device installation process by applying WinMagic's approved settings for those device make/model combinations within the .xml file.
IMPORTANT: The versions are not interchangeable. Please download and use ONLY the version of KnownConfigs.xml that is suitable for your version of SES.
Knowledge Base Article #1745 contains a download link to the SES V8.2+ version of KnownConfigs.xml, and #1746 contains a link to the SES V7.5 version of KnownConfigs.xml.
NOTE: As well as being included in future SES versions and Service Releases, the KnownConfigs.xml file will also be updated on a regular basis by WinMagic, so customers are strongly encouraged to:
a) Check SecureDoc Device KnownConfigs.XML File for SES V7.5 or SecureDoc Device KnownConfigs.XML File for SES V8.2 for updates to the KnownConfigs.xml file on a regular basis
b) Download and apply most recent version of KnownConfigs.xml for your version of SES.
Instructions on how to INSTALL the KnownConfigs.xml file for your version of SES
Having already downloaded the KnownConfigs.xml file (having followed the instructions in either Knowledge Base Article 1745 (for SES V8.2+) or 1746 (for SES V7.5 only), please follow these directions to apply the update:
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\WinMagic\SDDB-NT\Binary Installation Files\WindowsPC
- Copy updated knownconfigs.xml to this location
- Navigate to SES console> Installation Packages> Right click on each package to update the contents of said package
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\WinMagic\SDDB-NT\YourDatabase and look a few packages to ensure that version of knownconfigs,xml has been updated
TIP: Ensure that you copy the updated packages to any shares or deployment tools that you use.
