How To Obtain And Use The License Key Validation Tool
For Customers UPGRADING (not net-new installation) to SecureDoc Enterprise Server 7.X or 8.X from 6.X and earlier versions:
- As part of the SecureDoc Enterprise Server (SES) Upgrade/Migration path, it’s required that existing licenses being used by SES are validated to ensure a smooth upgrade process.
- Our License Validation Tool is a quick download that will execute a license check on your SES to ensure you will not run into any issues when upgrading.
- If there is an issue because of the keys not matching, the License Validation Tool will require that you request a new license key from the WinMagic License Key Request page. Your new key will be delivered in 1 to 2 business days.
Once you have an updated license key, you will need to use that once you install SecureDoc 7.5 SR1.
How to download and run the License Key Validation Tool:
- Go to http://downloads.winmagic.info/SD65/SESKey_6.5.0_setup_sdfeqw_214.zip and download the License Key Validation Tool file.
- Unzip the file on one of the machines the SDConnex is installed on.
- Once the file is unzipped, click on the License Key Validation Tool executable (SESKey.bat).
- The tool will then check the keys SES is using - auto-populating the fields.
- Once the check is complete (should take less than a minute), you will be prompted to request a new license key or continue with your upgrade installation.

* Limitations:
- Customers specifying a server address using IPV6 require special instructions from WinMagic Support
- Customers specifying custom SQL port as part of the connection string require special instructions from WinMagic Support.
- For this Validation Tool to work, users must have their SES management console and SDConnex installed on the same server that is being used.
