SecureDoc supports MS Windows 8 starting with SD version 6.1 Please note that with machines running Windows 8, there are 2 BIOS modes; BIOS Legacy and BIOS UEFI. SD should support all machines running in BIOS Legacy mode with Windows 8.
With machines using BIOS UEFI with Windows 8, only a selected number of models are validated and supported. Please refer to the information below: Release notes: http://www.winmagic.com/knowledgebase/releasenotes.php SecureDoc Compatibility Matrix: https://www.winmagic.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=315 **Installing SD on an unsupported machine with BIOS UEFI and Windows 8 might render the machine inoperable.
For information on how to prepare a Windows 8 installation on a machine with a TCG OPAL Self Encrypting Drive with SecureDoc, please see the KB article below: https://www.winmagic.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=331
Limitation: SecureDoc does not current support Windows Refresh and Windows Reset on Windows 8 operating system. We are looking to support this Windows feature in future SecureDoc versions.
Info on Windows 8 / 8.1 Refresh/Reset: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc The limitation is after system is encrypted by SecureDoc, refresh/reset will not work. If refresh/reset is executed, user will see the following error after: "The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again."
