Configuring Single Sign-On (SSO) in SecureDoc

Summary

This article provides step‑by‑step instructions for configuring Single Sign-On (SSO) within SecureDoc. Proper configuration ensures that the SecureDoc pre‑boot authentication synchronizes seamlessly with the user’s Windows login.

Prerequisites

  • You must log in to SecureDoc on the end user’s computer using a key file with administrative rights.

Configuring SSO Settings

  1. Open the SecureDoc Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to:
Customize → Modify Options → GINA
  3. Enable Use SecureDoc Logon Screen Lock.
  4. Select the following three options:
    • Use SecureDoc Logon
    • Auto Login
    • Synchronize SecureDoc with Windows password
  5. Click OK to save the changes.
  6. Restart the computer.

After the restart, logging in through the SecureDoc pre‑boot screen will automatically synchronize the SecureDoc user with the corresponding Windows account.

Changing or Using Alternate Windows Credentials

If you need to log in using a different Windows user account either temporarily or permanently you must log out of Windows (do not restart). After logging out, a SecureDoc credential screen will appear.

Understanding the Credential Screen

  • SecureDoc User ID displays the SecureDoc user currently authenticated on the machine.
  • You must enter the SecureDoc user’s password to proceed.

Options for managing Windows Credentials

1. Change the Windows Account Linked to SecureDoc

Use this option when you want SecureDoc to automatically log in to a different Windows user going forward.

  • Click Change Windows Credentials.
  • Windows will prompt you to log in again.
  • After logging in, the SecureDoc user becomes synchronized with the newly selected Windows account.
  • From this point on, logging in at the SecureDoc pre‑boot screen will automatically sign in to that Windows account.

2. Temporarily Use Another Windows Account

Use this option when you need to log in as a different Windows user for administrative tasks (e.g., installing hardware or software).

  • Select Use Other Windows Credentials.
  • Log in with the alternate Windows account as needed.

When the computer is restarted and the SecureDoc user signs in again at pre‑boot, Windows will not automatically log in to the temporary account. The system will revert to the previously linked Windows user.
